Indigenous Food Sovereignty Collective

Waterloo Region

A grassroots collective working to restore the land and creating community 1 x 1

1 cm x 1 cm, 1 m x 1 m, 1 km x 1 km,
1 harvest commitment x 1 harvest commitment, 1 connection x 1 connection

What We Do

We grow, hunt, fish, and forage organic foods in traditional Indigenous ways for those in need in our community.

We help to facilitate meals and grocery supplements for Elders and those in need in our community.

We help to restore the land using traditional Indigenous plants, and save their seeds for the next generations.

We can help support you daily, weekly, monthly. If there is a week that is hard for you and some groceries or a cooked meal for you or your family would help, please reach out.

Do you want to help our collective?

Learn and grow with us! No previous experience necessary! Looking for:

  • Weeders
  • Planters
  • Meal makers
  • Delivery drivers
  • Hunters/fishers
  • And more!

We appreciate people from all nations, regardless of status. We ask that if you are non-Indigenous, you take a listening, learning, and supportive role rather than a leadership one.

We are also looking for land to be used for growing, even small patches, or crops that can be gleaned.

We currently manage two spaces, the Big Land, and the Garden.

The crew for the Big Land currently meets in the field to work every:

  • MONDAY 6- 8 PM
  • THURSDAY 6- 8 PM
  • SATURDAY 8- 10 AM

Check the calendar below for more updated dates and times for all events.
